One thing about being home with the girls is deciding / choosing meal selections. I started with the common man “Dad’s making lunch” of Mac and Cheese, pizza, P&J sandwiches, cereal, local sub stores, etc… Basically not turning on the stove being afraid of making a complete mess of things inside of it (been there before) or burning down the house.
But one day Dad decided to tackle something new; as I thought to myself if I can run the grill I should be able to whip up something using the oven and imagination. So welcome to the world of Tyson chicken patties https://www.tyson.com/products/breast-patties
They are easy to make and even more fun to drum ideas with what toppings that kids and even Dads like. The girls usually went with pretty tame toppings like lettuce, tomato, American cheese, mustard ketchup, ranch, etc… Unlike myself I added toppings like jalapenos, hot sauce, pepper jack cheese, pickle slices, more hot sauce and maybe tomato.
What made this experience awesome for myself was that it was a chance to create something they liked from the normal mundane Dad meals and the attempt to make the best chicken sandwich ever and including them in them in the experience. Sometimes we failed, but most of the time they would massage my ego to say yes Dad it was the best chicken sandwich ever.
